As said before, Mobile indexing will be live from the next month (March) which is confirmed by Marry Haynes. In last year Google informed Mobile First Indexing would be live from the early of 2018 as informed, Google is planned to move many sites to mobile first indexing to give its user better user experience.

Mobile First Indexing from March

Some mobile searches where more than desktop searches Google has planned to shift the importance to mobile over desktop. As a result, Mobile First Indexing was introduced which is under the development progress last week, and it is to be live from the March. Google initially planned to migrate all sites to mobile first index by early of 2018, as the development process is not completed to meet the goal. And Google has also announced, they will not inform us when the migration from desktop to mobile has completely reached.

Currently, only a few sites have been moved to mobile-first indexing and expected to have an impact on the move very soon in traffic. As the shifting process in progress, site owners can check the details in the server logs in search console to know whether your site has been moved to mobile-first indexing or not. Testing in the server blog manually is the only way as of now, to confirm whether the site has been migrated to the mobile first indexing (new indexing).

If your site is customized for mobile indexing then your site will be selected very soon by the next month else work on it this is the right time to do so. As speed is getting major factor, test your site mobile friendliness. Give your website address, Google will fetch your site and give the result and recommends you to work on some issuing factor too. Fix those and get ranked better in the new indexing factor too.
